So anyone that has known me for a while knows I’m a huge video nerd, especially when it comes to battles. Watching DMC and ITF videos coming up really shaped who I am as a DJ, and made me want to do more than just play records in a club. I was always into scratching and trick mixing as a kid, but getting my first real DJ video in 1998 (X-Men in X-Ercise Vol 1) completely changed my life.
A few years later I purchased the 2003 DMC US Finals DVD, and this routine here completely flipped me out. It took me probably 30 views to really grasp what this dude was doing, and also made me really shift my focus from scratching to beat juggling. So here we go, the inaugural DJ vid of the week is DJ Shiftee at the 2003 DMC US Finals.
